Taunton and District Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) will today welcome Lib Dem Euro-MP Graham Watson to hear about the work of the CAB in the Taunton area and discuss how they can help remind people of their rights as EU citizens.
In 2008/09, Taunton and District CAB supported 7,362 individuals with advice on over 19,000 issues. Debt enquiries amounted to 29% of this work with welfare benefits
"This is a tough time for a great many people, and the CAB does a fantastic job in providing support when it is most needed. I am pleased to have the opportunity to hear in more detail about the problems people are encountering and how I can help as an MEP."
He added;
"I also want to talk about our rights as EU citizens to live, work and travel in Europe. Many lose out because they are unaware of the protection that EU law gives them when, for example, purchasing or selling products abroad. We must make the most of our EU membership, and the CAB has an important role to play in this."
