Lib Dem Euro-MP will today speak to the leaders of local businesses at an event organised by the Bridgwater Industrialists' Association.
The visit comes amid concerns that the EU may not meet its target of cutting "red-tape" by 25% by 2012. Watson wants to reassure the Association that Lib Dems in Brussels are committed to making sure the plan remains on track.
Commenting ahead of the visit, Watson said:
"The best way to create jobs and find a way out of this economic mess is to support small, local firms. That is why I am committed to ensuring the EU does its bit to scrap unnecessary and costly rules. We have already had success- notably the exemption of small firms from some accounting practices- but more needs to be done at all levels, including Westminster and County Hall."
Watson will also point out other benefits of the EU:
"The EU offers the chance to sell our products, services and knowledge to 500m people across the EU. I want to make Bridgwater businesses aware of the support that is available to help us do business in the EU and bring new money to the town.
"I look forward to a productive meeting for jobs and prosperity in Bridgwater and the surrounding areas."
